Negotiations on Montenegro’s accession to the European Union may be completed by the end of 2026. The signing of the country’s accession agreement is expected to take place in June 2027.
elchi reports, citing “Reuters”, that this was stated in the European Commission’s annual report on the EU’s enlargement policy.
The document emphasizes: “For the first time since the EU concluded membership negotiations with Croatia in 2011, the European Union is in a position to quickly conclude the negotiation process with another candidate country – Montenegro.”
The European Commission linked the country’s progress to the reforms implemented and its efforts to move forward on the European path.
