Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with the deputy speakers of the African Group parliaments within the framework of the 20th session of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) held in Baku.
This was reported to elchi by the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Speaker of the Federal National Council of Burkina Faso Tarik Humayt Al Tahir, Deputy Speaker of the Senate of Chad Mbank Hacivoli, Deputy Speaker of the Senate of Côte d’Ivoire Sakkoni Torri Sarra, First Deputy Speaker of the National Transitional Council of Guinea-Bissau San Hafote Karamba, and First Deputy Speaker of the National Transitional Council of Mali Muhammedou Mahammad Osmani.
At the meeting, it was emphasized that the 20th session of the PUIC Conference was organized at a high level, and the importance of the issues discussed at the event was noted. The messages contained in Ilham Aliyev’s address to the conference participants were highly appreciated.
S. Gafarova provided information about the environment of multiculturalism and tolerance in Azerbaijan, as well as the state policy implemented in the direction of protecting and developing Islamic values.
The parties emphasized the role of parliaments in the development of relations between countries and peoples, and discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between legislative bodies. The importance of expanding cooperation within international parliamentary platforms, including the PUIC, the Non-Aligned Movement Parliamentary Network, and the PUIC, was noted.
An exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest also took place at the meeting.
