A meeting was held at Azerbaijan Railways (ADY) with a delegation from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). The meeting focused on the development of Azerbaijan’s transport infrastructure, the strengthening of regional connectivity, and the directions for developing cooperation.
ADY Chairman Rovshan Rustamov emphasized and highly appreciated the active partnership of the AIIB in Azerbaijan in the field of transport infrastructure and regional connectivity, noting that it makes a significant contribution to strengthening the country’s transit potential.
It was noted that the development of sustainable urban mobility and passenger transport services in Azerbaijan is one of the key components of ADY’s strategy. In 2025, more than 10 million passengers were transported via ADY’s inter-district and Absheron circular railway routes, which is an indicator of the growing demand for reliable and sustainable public transport.
The meeting highlighted the importance of continuing cooperation in the development of transport infrastructure, the expansion of regional connectivity, and the promotion of sustainable logistics solutions. A broad exchange of views took place regarding future directions of cooperation between ADY and the AIIB.
