The Forum of Heads of Competition Authorities of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) countries was held in Shusha, organized by the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
“Elchi” reports citing APA’s Karabakh bureau that the event was attended by heads and high-ranking representatives of competition authorities from Azerbaijan, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Hungary, and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, as well as the Deputy Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States, and representatives of relevant government agencies and the private sector.
At the opening ceremony of the forum, Elnur Bagirov, Chairman of the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Samad Bashirli, Deputy Minister of Economy, and Merey Mukajan, Deputy Secretary General of the OTS, delivered speeches.
The speeches emphasized the importance of deepening economic integration among OTS member countries, expanding cooperation in the field of competition policy, and strengthening joint action platforms.
It was noted that the main purpose of holding the forum is to harmonize the approaches of member countries to competition policy, expand the exchange of legal and institutional experience, and contribute to the development of regional cooperation.
Within the framework of the event, a panel discussion was held on the topic “Shaping competition policy as one of the driving forces of the OTS: regional cooperation.”
During the discussions, an exchange of views took place on the development of competition policy in the context of regional cooperation, strengthening coordination among competition authorities, and forming a competitive single economic space within the OTS region.
