MES employees won gold medals in rowing competition

On June 11, the rowing competition among employees of state institutions, jointly organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Azerbaijan Canoe and Rowing Federation, concluded.

According to the information provided to elchi by the Ministry of Emergency Situations, 36 employees from 10 state institutions tested their strength in the competition, competing individually in single kayaks (K-1) for men and women, and in double kayaks (K-2) for male pairs and mixed pairs.

The 5-member rowing team from the MES participating in the competition managed to achieve high results. In the individual K-1 category for men, Ensign Rufat Ahmadov, an employee of the Special Risky Rescue Service, defeated all his rivals and won the gold medal. Another team member, Captain Ozcan Karimov from the MES Academy, managed to win the bronze medal.

Among women, Senior Lieutenant Leyla Aliyeva, an employee of the Baku Regional Center, surpassed all her rivals and won the title of competition champion. Another team member, Malakhanim Mammadova from the MES Central Office, settled for the silver medal. In the mixed pairs K-2 category, Rufat Ahmadov and Leyla Aliyeva also competed and managed to reach the highest step of the podium.

In the competition held among male pairs, Captain Ozcan Karimov from the MES Academy and Senior Lieutenant Elkhan Asadov from the Civil Defense Troops won gold, while among female pairs, Senior Lieutenant Leyla Aliyeva from the Baku Regional Center and Malakhanim Mammadova from the Central Office won gold medals, being declared winners of the competition held among state institutions.

The winners were presented with diplomas and medals established by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
