Baku-Supsa oil pipeline has passed to SOCAR’s operatorship

As of June 8, 2026, the Western Export Pipeline (WEP) and the Supsa terminal, which is an integral part of it, have passed to the operatorship of “SOCAR Midstream Operations” LLC.

According to the information provided to elchi by “SOCAR Midstream Operations”, in accordance with the agreement reached between the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation and SOCAR, the existing operatorship agreement with bp has expired, and operational responsibility has been assumed by “SOCAR Midstream”.

It is noted that the WEP, one of the main energy routes connecting the Caspian region with the Black Sea and international markets, continues to maintain its strategic importance as a vital component of regional energy infrastructure.

It should be recalled that previously, the operator of the mentioned infrastructure facilities was the BP company.
