Iran has issued a warning to the US regarding the ceasefire.
“Elchi” reports that the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, wrote about this on his “X” social media account.
“We have broken the ceasefire equation on paper and its repeated violations on the battlefield,” he stated.
According to Ghalibaf, Iran’s response will be harsh until the US and Israel demonstrate genuine will to build trust.
It should be noted that US President Donald Trump demanded on the “Truth Social” platform that Israel and Iran immediately stop the exchange of strikes. Shortly after, the Iranian side announced that strikes on Israel had ceased. However, Iran threatened new attacks in the event of an escalation in Lebanon.
Nevertheless, the Israel Defense Forces launched airstrikes on six residential areas in southern Lebanon, where suspected Hezbollah militant facilities are located.
It is worth recalling that on February 28, the US and Israel launched military operations against Iran, and airstrikes were carried out on a number of cities. On that same day, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed as a result of the strikes. In response, Iran attacked Israeli territory and US military bases in Persian Gulf countries.
Iran, the US, and their allies reached a ceasefire agreement on the night of April 8. Trump later extended the ceasefire for an indefinite period.
The parties held negotiations in Pakistan to resolve the conflict, but the first round held on April 11-12 yielded no results.
To exert pressure on Tehran, the US has blockaded Iranian ports and the passage through the Strait of Hormuz. In turn, Iran has announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz for ships heading to the Persian Gulf. The dynamically changing situation in the region has caused a global energy crisis.
