Deputy Minister: Meat prices may stabilize due to increased production and reduced production costs

It is expected that the stabilization of prices in the meat market in Azerbaijan will be ensured through increasing production and reducing production costs.

elchi reports that Deputy Minister of Agriculture Zaur Aliyev stated this at a press conference.

The Deputy Minister noted that the main goal is to increase meat production, improve productivity, and reduce production costs.

“We believe that stability in the market will be created by forming the cost price of meat production at an appropriate level,” Zaur Aliyev noted.

According to him, currently, 83.7% of Azerbaijan’s demand for beef, 94.2% of the demand for mutton, and 82% of the demand for poultry are met through local production.

The Deputy Minister added that the State Program envisages increasing the country’s self-sufficiency level in meat products.

Zaur Aliyev emphasized that in recent years, an increase in meat prices has been observed worldwide. This increase has been influenced by rising logistics, feed, and other production costs following the pandemic.

According to him, the main cost element in livestock farming is feed, and increasing productivity in feed production will allow for a reduction in the cost of meat production in the future.
