UEFA has made changes to the format of the play-off stages ahead of major tournaments.
elchi reports that changes have been made to clause 17.01 regarding the holding of the European Championship.
According to the new rules, teams in the first pot will automatically gain an advantage and will host the play-off semi-final and final matches on their home turf.
Previously, the host for the play-off matches for qualification to the final stage was determined by a draw. For this reason, national teams such as Italy, Denmark, and Turkey were forced to play decisive matches away from home.
It should be noted that previously, in the final of the play-off stage for qualification to the 2026 World Cup, Turkey defeated Kosovo, while Denmark and Italy lost to the Czech Republic and Bosnia, respectively, after playing away games.
