Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova held a number of meetings within the framework of the Global Conference of Women Parliamentarians of the Inter-Parliamentary Union held in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia.

During the meetings with the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Tulia Ackson, President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Pere Joan Pons, President of the Senate of Zimbabwe Mabel Memory Chinomona, newly elected Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Anda Filip, Vice-President of the organization Gabriela Morawska-Stanecka, Executive Committee member Karen Bradley and Bureau Chair Cynthia López Castro, Vice-Speakers of the House of Representatives of Morocco – Nadia Touhami and Zaina Id Hali, and Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Mauritania Siham Nacem, the importance of the Global Conference in terms of expanding cooperation among women parliamentarians was noted.
During the conversations, the importance of multilateral platforms was emphasized, and issues of bilateral cooperation within international parliamentary organizations, as well as between legislative bodies, were reviewed.
