Turkish deputies visited the Milli Majlis

On June 2, members of the Human Rights Committee of the Milli Majlis met with a delegation led by Sunay Karamık, Chair of the Committee on Petitions of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye (TBMM).

Zahid Oruj, Chairman of the Human Rights Committee of the Milli Majlis, welcomed the Turkish delegation and emphasized that the friendly and brotherly relations between our countries are developing successfully, and inter-parliamentary cooperation is further strengthening. He stated that there are legislative experiences and opportunities for joint activities in the protection of citizens’ rights and freedoms in both countries. The committee chairman noted the importance of improving mechanisms for managing citizen appeals and applying digital technologies in the process of receiving and responding to appeals.

Expressing her pleasure at being in the Parliament of Azerbaijan, Sunay Karamık, Chair of the Committee on Petitions of the TBMM, shared her views on strengthening cooperation at the parliamentary level and expanding relations between the relevant committees of the legislative bodies. She spoke about the work done in the Turkish Parliament regarding the investigation of applications, complaints, and appeals received from citizens, as well as mechanisms for increasing citizen satisfaction.

At the meeting, Deputy Chair of the Human Rights Committee of the Milli Majlis Arzuxan Əli-zadə, members Vüqar Rəhimzadə and Bəhruz Məhərrəmov, Deputy Chair of the Committee on Petitions of the TBMM Ahmet Salih Dal, committee members Ahmet Baran Yazgan, Abdürrahim Dusak, Ahmet Ersagun Yücel, and Head of the Turkey-Azerbaijan inter-parliamentary friendship group of the TBMM Şamil Ayrım spoke and touched upon issues of experience exchange in the field of human rights protection and consideration of citizen appeals, as well as the expansion of mutual cooperation in legislative activities.

During the conversation, the importance of holding regular meetings between the committees and implementing joint projects was emphasized. Also, an exchange of views took place regarding the expansion of relations within the framework of TURKPA, the strengthening of cooperation on other international platforms, and a number of issues of mutual interest.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Secretary General of TURKPA Muhammet Alper Hayali, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to our country Birol Akgün, and other officials.
