The relations between Saudi Arabia and Azerbaijan are very ancient and long-term.
elchi reports that this was stated by Hasan Alattas, an official from the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program, at the event on “Developing Development Programs in Conflict Zones” held within the framework of WUF13.
He noted that through the Saudi Fund for Development, Saudi Arabia has implemented many projects in Azerbaijan, including water supply, healthcare, and road infrastructure: “Our Minister of Energy visited Azerbaijan during the COVID-19 period. There are strong relations and coordination between the two countries. Last year, both countries agreed to further develop cooperation.”
He pointed out that one of the areas to be developed in cooperation with Azerbaijan will be tourism: “A large number of Saudi tourists are coming to Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan is a very beautiful and safe country. The people are very hospitable. Your country is very beautiful. The number of tourists coming from Saudi Arabia is increasing, and this is not limited to Saudi Arabia alone; the flow of tourists from all Gulf countries is increasing. This is a very positive development for the Azerbaijani economy.”
