A city tour was organized for foreign media representatives in Baku within the framework of WUF13

Within the framework of the Thirteenth session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), a media tour of Baku’s cultural and historical sites was organized for foreign media representatives visiting our country, co-organized by the Media Development Agency and the WUF13 Azerbaijan Operating Company.

“Elchi” reports that on May 20, media representatives from Italy, China, Russia, India, Kenya, Tunisia, and other countries were given the opportunity to get acquainted with Baku’s modern urban planning examples and its rich historical and cultural heritage.

Starting in the morning from the WUF13 Media Center, the tour participants first visited the “White City,” one of the capital’s most modern urban development projects. They were provided with detailed information about the project’s development stages, the concept of ecological regeneration, and modern urbanization approaches. The route also included visits to locations such as the Karabakh Horses Square, the Statues Complex, the Water Pavilion, the historical kerosene distillation units, the Fountains Square Park, the White City Pedestrian Bridge, and the Time Square.

Afterward, the media representatives arrived at the Heydar Aliyev Center, considered one of the masterpieces of world architecture. The guests were briefed on the center’s unique architectural style, its exhibitions, and the cultural projects implemented there.

Following this, the international media representatives visited Icherisheher, the ancient historical part of Baku.

In this area, which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, they were provided with information about the Maiden Tower, the Palace of the Shirvanshahs Complex, and other medieval monuments.

At the end of the trip, the journalists noted that the tour was organized at a high level and that the harmony between Baku’s history and its modern urban planning model left a deep impression on them.

It should be noted that the main purpose of the city tour is to present to international media representatives the projects implemented by Azerbaijan in the field of urban planning, as well as the historical and modern development model of the capital, Baku.
