The delay in deducting funds from bank cards during NFC payments in Azerbaijan’s public transport is not related to the operations of international card organizations such as “Visa” and “Mastercard”.
elchi reports that this was stated by Taleh Kazimov, Chairman of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), at a press conference held today.
“The practice regarding transport payments in most countries is that when a terminal accepts a payment, it operates in offline mode, cannot check if there are funds in the card account at that moment, but allows you to use the transport and records the debt. After a few hours, or even a day, if there is money in the account, it is deducted. We are currently talking to banks about improving this process. If there are synchronization problems, they will be resolved. However, I believe that the systems of “Visa” and “Mastercard” need to be regulated. Because this issue creates misunderstanding among the public,” he noted.
