The Navy of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has called on all ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz only via the corridor provided by Tehran.
“Elchi” reports that this warning from the military was broadcast by Iranian state television.
“The corridor provided by Iran is the only safe way to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. Redirecting ships to other routes is dangerous, and the IRGC Navy will take decisive measures against anyone who takes this step,” the statement noted.
It should be recalled that on February 28, 2026, the US and Israel launched a military operation against Iran by conducting airstrikes on a number of cities. In response, Iran launched missile strikes on Israeli territory and attacked US military bases in Persian Gulf countries.
On the night of April 8, Iran, the US, and their allies agreed on a two-week ceasefire. On April 11-12, negotiations were held between Iran and the US in Islamabad with the mediation of Pakistan. After long discussions, the parties concluded the meeting without reaching an agreement.
As a means of pressure on Tehran, the US announced a blockade of Iranian ports and the passage through the Strait of Hormuz. Iran stated that the Strait of Hormuz is now closed to ships heading to Persian Gulf countries. The situation in the region has caused a global energy crisis.
