US President Donald Trump stated that the person who opened fire at the White House Correspondents’ Association reception held at the “Washington Hilton” hotel was carrying several weapons.
“Elchi” reports that he made this statement at a press conference held after the incident.
“The man attacked the security checkpoint with several weapons and was apprehended by brave members of the US Secret Service, who acted very quickly,” Trump said.
According to him, one of the Secret Service officers was injured by gunfire, but his body armor prevented serious injuries.
“He was shot at very close range with a very powerful weapon, but his body armor worked. I spoke to the officer, and he is feeling well,” the US leader noted.
Trump also added that, according to preliminary information, the shooter likely acted alone, and the investigation must confirm this.
