WSJ: Trump considers resuming limited attacks against Iran

After inconclusive talks with Iran in Pakistan, US President Donald Trump and his advisors are considering the possibility of resuming limited-scale attacks against the Islamic Republic to force Tehran to make concessions.

elchi reports that this was stated by “The Wall Street Journal” newspaper.

According to the publication, the resumption of large-scale bombing of Iran is not excluded. However, it is reported that this option is less likely, as such a step could lead to an escalation of the situation in the region and draw Washington into a long-term armed conflict.

The newspaper notes that every scenario carries serious risks. Thus, the continuation of full-scale military operations could be accompanied by the risk of depleting US weapons reserves. On the other hand, a decrease in the intensity of operations could be perceived by Tehran as a victory.
