Strengthening coordination between AQEM, the Organization of Turkic States, the Economic Cooperation Organization, ASEAN, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization will undoubtedly increase connectivity across the continent.
elchi reports that Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said this during his speech at the 7th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA).
He stated that connectivity also encompasses the digital world: “Within the framework of CICA, we must deepen cooperation in the fields of science, technology, and innovation so that artificial intelligence and other new technologies serve the well-being of people not only in Asia but all over the world. Artificial intelligence should not be a tool for confrontation or monopoly, but the basis for inclusive cooperation. Strengthening connectivity will support sustainable development in Asia. Sustainable development also requires taking measures against the challenges of climate change. Turkey continues to play a leading role in combating the impacts of climate change. We will host the 31st Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP31) in November this year and will chair the conference.
In this regard, we want COP31 to be an opportunity to strengthen climate justice, sustainable development, and human-centered transformation. We call on all relevant stakeholders to be represented at a high level at the upcoming Leaders’ Summit.
