The main reason for the low interest in operating some artesian wells in Azerbaijan is the high cost of electricity.
elchi reports that this was stated by the Minister of Agriculture, Majnun Mammadov, at today’s meeting of the Agrarian Policy Committee of the Milli Majlis.
The minister stated that due to high electricity costs, citizens in some cases do not want to take over artesian wells on their own balance.
Majnun Mammadov announced that a new support mechanism will be implemented to solve the problem.
According to him, from January 1, 2027, 50 percent of the cost of installing solar panels at agricultural facilities, including artesian wells, will be covered by the state.
The minister believes that this step will significantly reduce the electricity costs of artesian wells and increase interest in their operation.
“Once the electricity supply becomes cheaper, on the contrary, those who want to own an artesian well will increase. I call on everyone to take advantage of this opportunity from January 1, 2027,” the minister said.
