On September 30 and October 1, there is a possibility of flares of class M, the penultimate power category, occurring on the Sun’s surface.
elchi reports that this information was provided to the TASS agency by the Institute of Applied Geophysics.
The institute noted that although solar flare activity is generally at a low level on the indicated dates, flares of class M are not excluded.
Depending on the intensity of X-ray radiation, solar flares are divided into five main classes: A, B, C, M, and X. The weakest class, A0.0, is equivalent to a radiation power of 10 nanowatts per square meter in Earth’s orbit. With each subsequent letter, the power increases tenfold. These flares are often accompanied by the ejection of solar plasma, and when these plasma clouds reach Earth, they can lead to the formation of geomagnetic storms. (oxu.az)
