It is planned to restore forests on an area of 2.6 thousand hectares in Georgia by the end of 2026.
“Elchi” reports that, according to the National Forestry Agency, the work will be carried out in nine regions of the country.
The mentioned area is equivalent to approximately 3,600 football fields.
Within the framework of the implemented program, the authorities plan to increase the restoration area to 51 thousand hectares by 2031. This means an area approximately 70% larger than Tbilisi, or 0.73% of the entire territory of Georgia.
