The US is preparing to authorize the transfer of 10 additional MIM-104E GEM-T missiles for “Patriot” air defense systems to Ukraine, which were previously purchased by Germany and are valued at $29.6 million.
According to “Elchi”, this was announced in a notification from the US Department of State published on the Congress website.
“This shipment is consistent with US security assistance objectives. The US government is prepared to authorize this transfer, taking into account political, military, economic, human rights, and arms control considerations,” the document states.
Under the concluded agreements, prior consent from Washington is required for the transfer of US weapons by third countries.
The US Department of State noted that Ukraine is seeking to acquire these systems to strengthen its air defense capabilities and already possesses ammunition of the same type.
