On Friday, an Iraqi citizen suspected of preparing a terrorist attack was arrested in eastern Germany.
“Elchi” reports that this was stated in a report by the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office of Germany.
The arrest operation was carried out by officers of the Federal Police and the Federal Criminal Police Office in the Barnim district (Brandenburg federal state). The individual is suspected of attempting to form a terrorist group, preparing a crime that poses a threat to national security, and violating the Weapons Act.
According to investigators, the detainee supported the ideology of the “Islamic State” terrorist group. Starting in the spring of 2025, he began planning terrorist attacks in Germany with an accomplice, acquired firearms for this purpose, and scouted one of the churches in Bremen that he intended to attack.
According to the information, he is expected to appear before an investigating judge on Friday for the selection of a preventive measure.
