Zelensky: Ukraine cannot win the conflict with Russia.
elchi reports that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky admitted in an interview with “CBC News” that it is impossible to defeat Russia. He stated that there will be “no winning side” in this military conflict.
“To be honest, there can be no victory for either side in this war. It is impossible due to the excessive number of human casualties,” Zelensky said.
According to him, a true victory should be the cessation of military operations.
“Victory for the world means peace. Stopping this war. And this is a victory for the sake of human life,” Zelensky noted.
However, Zelensky had previously considered the possibility of Ukraine’s victory and even presented a five-point plan to the Verkhovna Rada on how to achieve it. The plan, among other things, envisaged Kyiv being invited to NATO before the conflict with Russia ends. Other steps included lifting restrictions on strikes against Russia and continuing “operations” on its territory. Another point demanded that the West deploy a “non-nuclear strategic deterrent package” on Ukrainian territory. In addition, Kyiv demanded the tightening of sanctions against Russia and the development of its own strategic and economic capabilities.
