Zangezur corridor deemed compliant with Armenian Constitution

The Constitutional Court of Armenia has issued a ruling on the agreement regarding the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity” (TRIPP) project.

“Elchi” reports that the court concluded that the obligations arising from the framework agreement signed between Armenia and the USA do not contradict the country’s Constitution.

Although three days were allocated for the consideration of the matter, the Constitutional Court reached a decision in less than 24 hours. The case was examined through a written procedure, without oral hearings. Armenian media reported that the decision was announced on September 16.

The TRIPP project envisages the creation of a transport link passing through southern Armenia between the main part of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

Following the Constitutional Court’s decision, the agreement is expected to be submitted to the Armenian parliament for ratification. The Armenian government had previously announced that the ratification process would be carried out in this sequence. (modern.az)
