A dangerous situation regarding drinking water has arisen in Tsav, an ancient Azerbaijani village located in the Syunik (Western Zangezur) region of Armenia.
elchi reports that, according to the Armenian Ministry of Health, mercury levels exceeding the maximum permissible limit have been detected in water samples from the village. Following initial investigations, experts took samples from four different points in the village to re-examine the water quality. The samples included water from the supply source and from taps in residents’ homes.
The results obtained on September 11 confirmed the deviation from the norm in the water.
In this regard, Tsav residents have been advised not to use the water for drinking or household needs until the water quality is restored. Authorities are organizing the supply of safe water to the village and are working to identify the factors causing the contamination.
It should be noted that the village of Tsav, located on the border with Azerbaijan, belongs to the Kapan community. The Bastichay river, which flows into Azerbaijan, passes near the village.
