It has been revealed that the opinion issued by the European Parliament’s Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality regarding the 2027 European Union (EU) budget also recommends allocating funds for a so-called monument to be built by Greek Cyprus for the purpose of slandering the Turkish Armed Forces.
“Elchi” reports that the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has released information regarding this matter.
“The Turkish Armed Forces prevented the extermination of the Turkish inhabitants of Cyprus with the 1974 Cyprus Peace Operation and brought peace to the island that has lasted for more than half a century,” the MFA statement noted.
It was stated that the claims put forward by the Greek side distort and politicize historical facts:
“Instead of contributing to the resolution of the Cyprus issue, the fact that EU institutions are moving away from the principles of impartiality and justice and becoming a tool for the Greek side’s propaganda further damages inter-communal trust.
We call on EU officials not to become instruments of circles that aim to distance Turkey from the EU with every step they take.”
