Sanitary condition of 13 markets in Azerbaijan is satisfactory – OFFICIAL

It has been determined that out of 79 food markets operating in the country, the sanitary-technical and sanitary-hygienic condition of 13 is satisfactory, 42 is unsatisfactory, and 24 is partially satisfactory.

“Elchi” reports that the Food Safety Agency has released information regarding this.

It was stated that the identified deficiencies are mainly related to the lack of appropriate conditions for the sale of various types of products and the failure to allocate zones equipped with a sufficient number of counters, shelves, and other necessary equipment in the markets.

“At the same time, deficiencies such as the lack of a sufficient number of refrigerators and freezers for storing milk and dairy products, meat and meat products, as well as other perishable high-risk products, and the fact that surfaces in contact with food, especially counters, are not made of easy-to-clean and corrosion-resistant materials were identified.

During the control measures, it was also discovered that persons engaged in the sale of food products did not undergo initial and periodic medical examinations, did not follow personal hygiene rules, and were not provided with sanitary clothing, as well as the absence of relevant accompanying documents for products of animal origin and label information ensuring the traceability of products.
In order to eliminate the deficiencies and ensure compliance with food safety requirements, relevant instructions have been given to market managers,” the statement emphasized.
