Dmitri Peskov told journalists that negotiations on a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine are in a deep freeze phase.
“Elchi” reports that the Kremlin spokesman noted there are no new ideas.
He emphasized that the conditions put forward by Russia regarding the cessation of military operations have not changed.
“The Ukrainian side is well aware of our demands. They do not want to discuss this peacefully,” Peskov said, noting that Russia is continuing its special military operation in response.
“Strikes on Kyiv continue; they are carried out systematically. We continue to purposefully destroy the military and military-related infrastructure of the Kyiv regime. Our military knows what they are doing and how they should carry it out,” he noted.
As for reports about an alleged escalation prepared by Moscow, Peskov characterized them as “ordinary scare stories often published in Western media.” He concluded by emphasizing that experts fully understand the significance of the dynamics on the front line and the final consequences this will have for Kyiv.
Another version has emerged in Western media regarding the reasons for the CIA director’s visit to Moscow: according to this version, Ratcliffe visited to urge Vladimir Putin not to escalate tensions, to soften his conditions, and to return to the negotiating table. Media sources claim that in addition to SVR head Naryshkin, Ratcliffe also met with FSB head Bortnikov, trying to convince him to influence the president.
