MES commented on the Turkish President’s decision regarding Karabakh University

“Another important step has been taken towards expanding cooperation in the field of higher education between Azerbaijan and Turkey.”

According to the information provided to “Elchi” by the Ministry of Science and Education, the organization of teaching, training, and scientific research activities in the field of engineering, as well as the creation of relevant educational infrastructure, is planned between Karabakh University and Istanbul Technical University (ITU).

It was noted that in this regard, the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, signed Decision No. 11647 dated August 27, 2026, “On the opening of academic units under the Karabakh University of the Republic of Azerbaijan, affiliated with the Rectorate of Istanbul Technical University.”

“Integrating the rich academic and scientific potential of ITU in the field of engineering with Karabakh University will create conditions for expanding modern teaching and research opportunities, training highly qualified engineering personnel, and developing joint scientific activities.

Within the framework of the cooperation, it is planned to create dual degree programs, exchange students and faculty members, implement joint scientific research projects, and establish infrastructure in the field of engineering.

It should be noted that this initiative is another important example of further strengthening the Azerbaijan-Turkey brotherhood through institutional cooperation in the field of science and higher education, and directing the academic and scientific potential of the two countries towards the restoration and future development of Karabakh,” the statement says.
