The Main State Traffic Police Department has issued an appeal to drivers regarding windy weather.
According to “Elchi”, the appeal states that, based on information from the National Hydrometeorological Service, windy and rainy weather conditions are expected in Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, as well as in several regions of the country, from August 27 to 30, with wind speeds increasing in some areas.
It is also expected that in some mountainous and foothill regions, rain will be torrential, accompanied by lightning and hail, leading to increased water levels in rivers and short-term flash floods.
It is noted that the Main State Traffic Police Department, taking into account the dangers that weather conditions may pose on the roads, calls on road users to be careful and strictly observe traffic rules.
“Drivers are advised to choose a speed limit appropriate to road and weather conditions in rainy weather, increase the following distance, avoid sudden and sharp maneuvers, and be especially cautious when overtaking. In cases where visibility is limited, lighting devices should be used correctly, and risky actions should be avoided when passing through flooded road sections or areas prone to flash floods.
In areas with strong winds, drivers of vehicles with trailers, canvas covers, and long-sized cargo vehicles, in particular, should be more careful and pay special attention to the secure fastening of the transported cargo and the stability of the vehicle.
Pedestrians are advised to take into account that visibility may be limited due to precipitation and wind, and to cross the road only in designated areas and after being fully sure of their safety. The Main State Traffic Police Department calls on all road users to correctly assess the changing weather conditions and to act carefully and responsibly on the roads,” the statement said.
