Typhoon Dolphin in China: Over 1 million people evacuated

Chinese authorities have evacuated more than 1 million people in eastern China, including Shanghai, after Typhoon Dolphin reached the coast.
“Elchi” reports that meteorological officials stated the storm reached speeds of 150 kilometers per hour when it first hit the city of Yuhuan in Zhejiang province. The typhoon made landfall for a second time in the city of Wenzhou about an hour later.
The storm has halted transportation in the region. In Shanghai alone, 1,400 flights have been canceled.
Chinese authorities had previously issued a red alert, the highest level, for Typhoon Dolphin, but by Monday morning, the storm’s intensity was downgraded to a tropical storm.
The storm is reported to be moving inland. Authorities have warned that the risk of heavy rain, flooding, and landslides will continue until Wednesday. Heavy rain is expected on Monday in the provinces of Shandong, Henan, Hubei, Anhui, Jiangsu, and Zhejiang, as well as in the city of Shanghai.
