Israel’s national carrier, El Al, has suffered a loss of $55 million due to the conflict with Iran.
elchi reports that this was stated by the Reuters agency, citing the airline’s financial report.
The loss is linked to the closure of Israeli airspace at the beginning of spring, following the start of military operations against Iran in coordination with the US. After a ceasefire agreement was reached on April 8, the situation regarding air travel in the region normalized.
However, many major international airlines have not yet resumed flights to Tel Aviv. As a result, El Al has significantly increased its transport volume. In the second quarter of this year, the airline doubled its profit compared to the same period last year, reaching $132 million. Amid rising demand, the carrier plans to increase passenger capacity on its aircraft by 10%.
