The specialty selection for admission to secondary specialized education institutions (colleges) based on general (9-year) secondary education will be conducted online from August 3 to August 9 (until 23:59).
elchi reports that this was stated by the SEC (State Examination Center).
During the specialty selection stage, applicants must select the specialties they wish to be admitted to, enter their codes into the “Applicant’s electronic specialty selection application“, and confirm them.
Applicants whose total score in the entrance exam is not less than 50, whose score in the Azerbaijani or Russian language subject is not less than 20, and whose score in mathematics is not less than 10 are allowed to participate in the specialty selection.
Applicants whose total score is not less than 50 (no subject-specific score restrictions apply) and who have received a “pass” in the aptitude tests conducted by the relevant commission are allowed to participate in the competition for specialties requiring special aptitude.
Each applicant can choose up to 12 specialty codes from various educational institutions, both state-funded and paid. The applicant determines the order of the specialty codes themselves. During the competition, the placement of the applicant is carried out within the framework of the admission plan, taking into account the order of the specialties chosen by the applicant, and the applicant is placed in the first specialty for which they qualify.
Specialties for which admission to secondary specialized education institutions is conducted based on general education for the 2026/2027 academic year, plan places, and other necessary information regarding specialty selection have been published in the 3rd issue of the “Abituriyent” magazine.
It was noted that 6,210 plan places have been allocated for the admission of students to secondary specialized education institutions in 2026. Last year, the corresponding figure was 8,144 places. This year, 24,545 applicants who registered and met the competition requirements were allowed to participate in the specialty selection. Last year, 24,059 people had the right to participate in the competition. We would like to bring to the attention of applicants that, as in the previous year, applicants who met the competition requirements this year but did not register during the application submission period are allowed to register and participate in the specialty selection from August 3 to 9. Therefore, the number of applicants participating in the specialty selection is expected to increase further.
Applicants can also apply to the SEC’s “Applicant Advisory Centers” regarding specialty selection. Free assistance is provided to competition participants at the “Applicant Advisory Centers” located at Western Caspian University, Azerbaijan University, Baku Business University, Odlar Yurdu University, Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction, Azerbaijan Technical University, Baku Music Academy, Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University, Azerbaijan State Agricultural University, Sumgayit State University, and the regional divisions of the SEC.
