State of emergency declared in Spain due to forest fires

Spanish Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska announced that they have declared a state of emergency due to forest fires in and around the capital, Madrid.
“Elchi” reports that, according to the Spanish broadcaster RTVE, the Spanish Ministry of Interior has issued a written statement regarding the ongoing forest fires in and around Madrid.
The statement notes that Minister Grande-Marlaska has declared a state of emergency due to the forest fires.
On the other hand, authorities are also considering precautionary measures in case the fires threaten residential areas and spiral out of control.
According to the Madrid regional administration, the situation regarding the forest fires remains at a “critical” level, and 3 major fires in the region have not yet been brought under control.
