The Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC) has begun investigating the causes of the large-scale accident that occurred in the country’s power system.

According to the information, GNERC held an emergency meeting and made a decision to investigate the causes of the accident that occurred on July 24.
According to the decision, the established investigation group has been granted unrestricted access to the databases of regulated energy companies and all necessary information related to the accident.
The Commission stated that as a result of the accident that occurred in the country’s energy system on July 24 at approximately 00:10, interruptions occurred in the operation of electricity and telecommunication networks. As a result, the supply of electricity to Tbilisi and most regions of Georgia was temporarily suspended.
Currently, investigations are ongoing to determine the causes of the accident.
