Trump prepares to impose 10-12.5% tariffs on goods from 60 countries

US President Donald Trump is preparing to impose new tariffs ranging from 10% to 12.5% on goods from approximately 60 countries.

“Elchi” reports that this was stated by “Kommersant,” citing “The Financial Times” (FT).

The US President could implement the new tariffs after the current ones expire this week.

Trump’s advisors have prepared several options for subsequent steps that would allow the US to maintain the tariffs.

An investigation into the use of forced labor, launched by US authorities in March of this year, could serve as the legal basis for the new tariffs.

At the same time, according to information obtained by FT, some advisors warn that the imposition of tariffs could lead to a repeat of last year’s economic shocks and cause damage ahead of the midterm elections.
