On July 21, Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with a delegation led by Kang Shuai, Deputy Director of the Department of Informatics and Research of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, who is on a visit to our country.

At the meeting, the dynamic development of Azerbaijan-China relations and the achievements made were noted with satisfaction, and issues of further strengthening inter-parliamentary and inter-party cooperation, as well as expanding ties in the fields of economy, trade, education, culture, humanitarian affairs, and youth, were discussed.
Welcoming the delegation of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Speaker Sahiba Gafarova emphasized that the dynamic development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and China in all directions in recent years is based on the friendly relations between the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, and the President of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Xi Jinping.
It was stated that Azerbaijan has always unequivocally supported the “One China” policy and China’s territorial integrity. We also highly appreciate China’s support for our country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
The Speaker of the Milli Majlis noted that President Ilham Aliyev’s visits to the People’s Republic of China in 2025, especially the signing of the Joint Statement on the establishment of comprehensive strategic partnership relations between Azerbaijan and China during his state visit, were an important stage in the development of bilateral relations.
Sahiba Gafarova said that inter-parliamentary relations are an important component of Azerbaijan-China relations. Referring to her meetings with Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, during her business visit to China this year, and with Liu Jianchao, Head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, who visited Azerbaijan last year, she stated that inter-parliamentary dialogue and cooperation within international organizations are continuing successfully.
The Speaker of the Milli Majlis stated that along with the high-level political dialogue based on mutual trust between Azerbaijan and China, inter-party cooperation is also developing successfully. She emphasized that the effective relations formed between the New Azerbaijan Party and the Communist Party of China and the signed Memorandum of Understanding make an important contribution to the further expansion of this cooperation.
Kang Shuai, Deputy Director of the Department of Informatics and Research of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, noted that relations between China and Azerbaijan have developed successfully in recent years and that the high-level relations formed between the leaders of the two countries play an important role in strengthening this cooperation.
Recalling with pleasure the visit of the Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova to the People’s Republic of China and the meetings she held, Kang Shuai highly appreciated her support for the development of dialogue between Azerbaijan and China, including inter-party dialogue.
At the meeting, Tahir Budagov, Deputy Chairman of the New Azerbaijan Party and Head of the Central Office, spoke about the importance of political dialogue and inter-parliamentary cooperation in the system of interstate relations and expressed his views on the prospects for the development of cooperation between the New Azerbaijan Party and the Communist Party of China.
Chinese Ambassador to Azerbaijan Guo Min shared her views on various aspects of the relations between Azerbaijan and China.
An exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest also took place.
