Smoke from the large-scale wildfires continuing in Canada has affected the US city of New York.
“Elchi” reports that the Canadian Ministry of Natural Resources and the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Centre (CIFFC) have stated that they are battling forest fires in more than 830 locations across Canada.
ABC News reports that smoke from the Canadian fires has spread from Ontario to the northeastern United States, affecting air quality and reducing visibility in many areas, including New York.
Images in the report show the sky over New York covered in a layer of orange smoke.
New York Council Member Zohran Mamdani stated on his social media account on the US-based X platform that air quality in some areas has reached unhealthy levels due to the smoke spreading over the city.
Mamdani urged people with heart and lung conditions, the elderly, pregnant women, and children to take precautions.
