Polish President Karol Nawrocki has vetoed bills that would have legalized same-sex relationships through the institution of partnership unions.
elchi reports that this was announced by the head of the Polish President’s office, Paweł Szefernaker, on the X social network.
He stated: “President Karol Nawrocki has vetoed the bills regarding the introduction of partnership unions.”
According to Szefernaker, the Polish leader does not intend to violate the constitutional protection of marriage as a union between a man and a woman.
In May, the Sejm (the lower house of the Polish parliament) passed a bill on the status of relatives, which provides for a legal form of registration for non-marital unions, including same-sex couples.
It was also reported that Nawrocki intends to ban the black-and-red flags of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists within the country.
