The US could spend between $80 billion and $100 billion on conducting an operation in Iran, which is approximately three times the amount officially announced by the Pentagon.
“Elchi” reports that this was stated by the “NBC” television channel, citing sources familiar with the agency’s internal assessments.
According to the channel, Jules Hurst, acting Deputy Under Secretary of Defense (Comptroller), stated during Senate hearings on July 14 that the US costs for an operation in Iran, excluding the repair of damaged bases in the Middle East, are estimated at $30 billion. This amount includes the costs of replenishing ammunition stockpiles. However, Hurst clarified that this assessment was made several months ago and he does not have more recent data.
According to the Pentagon’s internal assessments, taking into account the repair of bases, the replacement of destroyed aircraft, and the replenishment of ammunition stockpiles, the costs of military operations could rise to $80-100 billion. Sources believe that the repair of US military facilities in Bahrain alone could cost $1 billion.
