Trump abandons 20% tariff for passage through Hormuz

US President Donald Trump has abandoned his intention to charge 20% of the value of cargo for ensuring the security of ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

“Elchi” reports that this was stated by US President Donald Trump in a post on the “Truth Social” social network.

According to Trump, instead of the payment, trade and investment agreements will be concluded with the Persian Gulf states. The US leader noted that this decision was made based on the results of negotiations held with the leadership of Middle Eastern countries. He expressed confidence that the new investments to be made in the US economy would be “huge” and would exceed the already existing record volumes of investment.

“I have decided to replace the 20% payment in favor of the United States with trade and investment agreements that the Persian Gulf states will conclude with the US,” he stated.
