Le Monde: Macron provides political impetus for aid to Ukraine.
“Elchi” reports that France provides less weaponry and money to Ukraine than Germany and Britain, but French President Emmanuel Macron often provides the “political impetus” to help Ukraine in Europe. A French diplomat told Le Monde.
“France provides less weaponry and money to Ukraine than Germany and Britain, but the political impetus to help Ukraine in Europe often comes from Macron,” the French diplomat said.
The publication writes that, for example, Macron has tried to help Ukraine by using his good relations with US President Donald Trump and has also consistently worked to improve relations between Kyiv and Washington. At the same time, the French leader has sought to reduce Kyiv’s dependence on American aid.
On July 13, a summit of the “coalition of volunteers” was held in Paris, and Ukraine’s Western allies decided to strengthen the country’s air defense. Emmanuel Macron announced that Ukraine would receive 16 Rafale fighter jets and associated weapons from France. The French president also noted that Ukraine would receive a license for the production of weapons, including SCALP precision-guided missiles.
In February, German government spokesman Steffen Cornelius stated that since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, Germany has been Ukraine’s largest sponsor of humanitarian and military aid.
