The referee who served as a VAR official in a “Qarabag” match has passed away

Dutch FIFA referee Rob Dieperink has passed away at the age of 38.

elchi reports that the Royal Dutch Football Association has announced this news.

The cause of the referee’s death has not yet been disclosed. The police are investigating the incident.

It should be noted that Dieperink was scheduled to work as a VAR official at the 2026 World Cup. However, he was removed from the tournament after being arrested in England in April on suspicion of committing a sexual offense against a minor.

Later, British police closed the investigation due to a lack of evidence, and no further action was taken against Dieperink.

It is worth noting that Dieperink had previously served as the VAR official for the match between “Qarabag” and Denmark’s “Copenhagen” held in Baku during the second round of the UEFA Champions League main stage.
