Oil prices rise by more than 4% following Trump’s statements on Iran

Following US President Donald Trump’s statement on the restoration of Iran’s naval blockade, global oil prices have risen sharply.

“Elchi” reports, citing Interfax.

The price of October futures for Brent crude on the ICE exchange rose by 4.5% to 79.44 US dollars per barrel. During the trading session, quotes exceeded 80 US dollars per barrel for the first time in about a month.

WTI crude futures for August delivery increased by 4.45% to 74.59 US dollars per barrel.

The price increase occurred after Trump’s post on “Truth Social” announcing the restoration of the blockade. According to him, the restrictions will apply only to Iranian ships and their customers, while the Strait of Hormuz will remain open for other countries.
