Search conducted at Ankara’s Çankaya Municipality, mayor detained

An investigation has been launched against Ankara’s Çankaya Municipality on charges of bribery.

“Elchi” reports, citing Turkish media, that as part of a corruption investigation conducted by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, a search was carried out at the Çankaya Municipality, and 36 people, including Mayor Hüseyin Can Güner, were detained as suspects.

According to the information, 27 people have been arrested so far in the operation launched over allegations of bribery, tender fraud, and forming a criminal organization.

It was reported that the Ankara Police Department, in coordination with the prosecutor’s office, has launched an investigation into crimes such as “forming a criminal organization,” “being a member of a criminal organization,” “giving and receiving bribes,” and “rigging tenders.”
