Nearly 2 million people evacuated in China due to Typhoon Bavi

Due to Typhoon Bavi approaching China’s east coast, more than 1.8 million people have been evacuated to safe areas in the country.

elchi reports that after affecting Japan’s southern Sakishima Islands with heavy rain and strong winds, and passing near the north of Taiwan, the typhoon is moving towards Wenzhou, one of China’s major cities.

According to meteorologists, “Bavi” is gradually weakening and its speed is decreasing. However, the typhoon still poses a serious threat. This is due to the large volume of moisture it carries and its wide rain bands. It is reported that the typhoon’s rain clouds are roughly the size of France.

Local authorities have warned the public about potential floods, landslides, and strong winds.
