International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi has stated that attacks on any nuclear power plant, regardless of its location, are unacceptable.
elchi reports that he made this statement in an interview with journalists following talks with Alexey Likhachev, head of the Rosatom state corporation.
“The message I want to convey is very clear and very important, it is a matter discussed at the UN Security Council and the IAEA Board of Governors — no attack on any NPP is possible and is unacceptable. Whether it is the Zaporizhzhia NPP, Bushehr, Barakah, or the Kursk NPP. For me, there is no difference between the names of nuclear facilities,” Grossi emphasized.
The IAEA Director General noted that the agency is not currently observing or confirming any direct attack on the Bushehr nuclear power plant in Iran.
“Like Rosatom, we are monitoring the situation in Bushehr and calling on all parties to exercise maximum restraint, because the physical integrity of any nuclear facility is the absolute priority for the safety of nuclear sites,” Grossi noted.
“Any impact on the physical integrity of nuclear facilities is completely unacceptable,” he reiterated.
