The European Union will put into effect a trade agreement with the US starting July 1. According to the agreement, the European side has agreed to the imposition of a 15% tariff on all European goods in the US, and in return, American goods will be taxed at zero tariff in the European Union.
“Elchi” reports that this is stated in a statement by the EU Council.
“The European Union has completed the process of approving the trade agreement with the US. The agreement will enter into force on July 1,” the EU Council reported.
This agreement also provides for the European Union’s commitment to purchase energy resources worth $750 billion from the US by 2028.
Prior to this, US President Donald Trump, threatening to impose new tariffs against the EU, had demanded that the agreement enter into force by July 4.
