The Main Department for Combating Cybercrime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has conducted another operation against individuals organizing illegal online betting games in the country.

As a result of the measures taken by the cyber police, Jamal Ahmadov, who was found guilty of involving citizens in illegal betting games through the “1xBet” platform, which is prohibited in the country, as well as Hajiakbar Abbaszade, Seyfaddin Ismayilov, Nabi Abdullayev, and Emil Abbasli, who operated under his leadership, were detained.
Investigations revealed that J. Ahmadov rented an apartment in the Khatai district of Baku and organized illegal online betting games through the “1xBet” site using the “BakuCash” profile. Customers were mainly attracted to this illegal activity via the “Telegram” application. During the search of the mentioned address, numerous mobile phones, bank cards, and other electronic evidence used in the organization and management of gambling were discovered and seized. Preliminary investigations determined that the illegal turnover of the gang members exceeded 1 million manats.
A criminal case has been initiated at the Main Department under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code regarding the fact. J. Ahmadov, S. Ismayilov, N. Abdullayev, and E. Abbasli have been brought into the investigation as suspects, and a preventive measure of arrest has been chosen against them by the court’s decision.
We once again appeal to citizens and urge them not to participate in illegal betting games offered through social networks and various internet platforms. Such platforms cause people to suffer financial losses and have their personal data compromised. In this regard, we recommend that citizens stay away from “1xBet” and other similar illegal online betting sites, and immediately inform the police authorities if they encounter such situations.
